Referral Partners should get commissions for future orders

Sorry, the below was posted as a belated Reply to Referral Partners should get commissions for future orders? - #5 by Han_van_de_Braak but perhaps this is too obscure for a new question… so here goes:

FIRST ORDER

  • Contact clicks Referrer’s own hyperlink, gets cookie and thereby in OrderId the Sale Referral Partner = ReferrerId

  • Contact phones our orderline, our telephonists clicks the ReferrerId within Order from dropdown menu, thereby in OrderId the Sale Referral Partner = ReferrerId

SUBSEQUENT ORDERS

  • Contact clicks Referrer’s own hyperlink, gets cookie and thereby in OrderId the Sale Referral Partner = ReferrerId

  • Contact phones our orderline, our telephonists clicks ReferrerId within Order from dropdown menu, thereby in OrderId the Sale Referral Partner = ReferrerId OR WILL THE SALE REFERRAL PARTNER FIELD BE POPULATED AUTOMATICALLY (WHICH WOULD BE THE MUCH PREFERRED, FAILSAFE SITUATION)

If new OrderIds do not automatically generate the inclusion of the ‘First referring’ Referrer (i.e. in our case the Sale Referral Partner = ReferrerId) then how can this be made to work? Infusionsoft telephone staff mentioned that they would escalate this request.

I have changed the settings to How to choose Referral Partner = First referring.
I had the Referral Partner tracking method = Referral history and cookies.
I changed Use IP Address = Yes.
Are these settings enabling the above tracking requirement for subsequent orders?

I am having the same issue. The Referral Partner tracking method options are: 1) Referral history and cookies, and 2) Only cookies - but this is preventing the system from giving credit to the First Referrer as the default “How to choose referrer” setting implies.

I need the true first referrer to always get the affiliate credit based on the earliest referral date, even if that referral record was manually created. The system allows me to create a manual referral, so you would think the system would also recognize and automatically credit that referral partner, even if the customer never clicked on one of their tracking links, and even if the customer later clicked on someone else’s.

I’ve been promising my affiliates for years that if they bring someone new into our community, they will always get the affiliate commission for future sales. However, there is a lot of cross-promoting that goes on in our community, so to keep my promise (which was made because “First referrer” was an option in my defaults - not understanding that referral history would be ignored if a cookie was present), I now have to manually update every order that comes in, to make sure the first referrer actually gets the credit. We are scaling right now, so this has become a real problem.

All we really need is a third option in the default settings for determining credit, this time based on: 3) Only referral history

Please - please give us this option!
