Form submission creates a new contact, I need it to update an existing

I have a web form which an existing contact will complete, when they submit this, it adds a new contact. Is there a way to have the form update the information from the fields into an existing contact record? The info on the form is answers to qualification questions so does not directly relate to an existing field.

Ideally, i would like the answers to add like notes.

Hi @Samantha_Hill, I cannot verify this for Pro / Max, but in the Max Classic version there is a Duplicate Checking setting for the Web Forms.

Does anything like that exist in your version?
