Unconfirmed email status

Has anyone else noticed, when you add a new contact and have ticked the box that they requested information, that when you save the contact, their email status comes out as unconfirmed, is this a new thing?

They have always been listed as ‘unconfirmed’
The only way they are ‘confirmed’ is if they click the confirmation email link.
