How can my sales people track their activity and how can I report on it?

In general, I would recommend a sales person use My Day to work their leads. My Day was designed for this purpose. In My Day, you can track your opportunities, tasks, send quotes, emails, etc…
For sales manager reporting, I would just create a saved search for each sales person’s opportunities and put them on my dashboard to see how many leads they are working and what state they are currently in.
Of course, your use case may be different, but that is where I would start.
