Im getting asetrik in password field for my users

hi,

when I’m checking my user’s details then showing asterisk in the password field. yesterday I can see the password in a readable format.

how can I sort this?

You can send the contact an email with their password using the ~contact.password~ merge field, but due to PCI and other security-related compliance, we had to obfuscate the field from view.

I don’t understand; how is it that as an administrator I can view our customer’s credit card information but not their password or log in info?

Many times I need to test a contact’s username and password when they are having trouble logging into our training site. How would I do this now if I can’t access their password?

Actually, since July 2019 PCI compliance hides credit card numbers even from administrator accounts. But that doesn’t change the fact that the password field is not a PCI issue. Whether you let your customers use the field or not is your choice in the first place, and how you use it may not matter too much to security. Sometimes these dev guys get obsessed about “security” and what we end up with often is more inconvenience for little to no security improvement.

Chat support gave me a temporary workaround:

Search for the contact in the regular “View Contacts” page. Add the password field to the columns. Once you search, the password field is shown unobsecured in the search results.

They have this simple how to video.

Chat support also suggested that we can leave feedback at https://keap.com/tellus. Ironically, I’m having tech issues using that form … (If any devs read this, the iFrame scrolling is set to “no” with an “overflow: hidden” style, so you can’t access the fields without tabbing, and you can’t see the captcha at all.)

I have opted to inform them that I would prefer this feature to be optional, and that I would set it to “off”.
