Email Unsubscribe Footer - New Line - Workaround Solution

Hi all,

We can all see that the Email Unsubscribe Footer feature is very limited, but it seems that Keap are not planning to make any changes for the while.

I took a look to see if there is a way to add a New Line into the Email Unsubscribe Footer section. By using a particular Unicode Character multiple times it is possible to add in additional White Spacing which can then force the text to roll over onto a New Line.

NOTE: This solution is useable but not ideal. I cannot guarantee the result will work on every device, but preliminary tests shows it is working okay. I recommended that you test this solution out. Also, Keap may filter the Character out in a future update.

The solution is using the Unicode Character “U+2007 - Figure Space”.

Figure Space Documentation: https://codepoints.net/U+2007

White Space Unicode Characters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitespace_character#Unicode

Note, this works well if the Text is Left Aligned. Centering the Text requires balancing the Unicode Character on both sides of the Text if you want New Lines to appear.

How to use

  • At the End of the Text, you need to add a Space.
  • Copy the Unicode Character - If you go to the Figure Space Documentation, you can click on the “Copy to Clipboard” button, or alternatively use the Keyboard or Character Mapping.
  • Paste it Multiple Times at the End of the Text.
  • Wait for the Email Text to render itself.
  • Carry on pasting until you see a New Line appearing in the Text.

For example, using Claudia Gabrielle Unsubscribe Text.

Additional footer text - The Unicode Character is at the end of the text.

Please note: Clicking the link below will permanently remove you from all lists. You'll miss information that you may be entitled to receive and I won't be able to send you any new reports, videos, or special savings that only our customers and friends receive to virtually guarantee the best possible experience and maximum results.

Unsubscribe link pre-text - No change.

Still want to stop receiving emails? Proceed with

Unsubscribe link post-text - The Unicode Character is at the end of the text.

If we may serve you in any time in the future, feel free to call or email me directly.

This is what you see in the Editor.

This is what you see in the Preview. If you send a Test Email, the same result will appear.

I recommend that you experiment with this to see if it works okay. It is possible to use other Unicode Characters, but not all of them are supported, and you want see other side effects like dots appearing instead of spaces.

I will update this post if other things are discovered or reported about.

Thank you for putting this together. Our greater issue is that the text in the Company.Can.Spam.AddressBlock looks horrific against the rest of the branded copy in our email. Have you found any way to edit how that text looks? Not wanting to remove it, just make it look like its actually part of the email.

Hi @Brian_D_Steele, after experimenting with things, it will be tricky to produce something that works well.

The Email Defaults Settings allows you to specify the Layout to One Line or Multi-Line, which the latter makes the address span over several lines. There is no way to change the styling for it.

For the One Line Layout, you could try using a different unicode character to separate the text. Very few unicode characters are supported, as Keap will ignore them when you save them.

Experiment with the Middle Dot Character - U+00B7 MIDDLE DOT: · – Unicode – Codepoints

But on the Mobile Display the Text becomes distorted.

It is going to be the case of experimenting with things, but it could be problematic trying to make it work well for both Desktop and Mobile displays.
