Opportunities - is there a way through automation to change custom opportunity fields?

Opportunities - is there a way through automation to change custom opportunity fields rather than having to go in and manually change them each time we create one? This seems basic but in the campaign builder it only lets me set contact fields???

Infusionsoft is a ‘contact-centric’ database, so everything revolves around contact fields. Opportunities kind of run in parallel to the system.
There are ways, via 3rd parties like Integromat and Zapier that can help do just about anything with the system, and other services like NovakSolutions, MyFusionHelper, FixYourFunnel (FunnelBots), etc. that have pre-configured tools to work with Opportunities, but you’d need go check out the tools to see if they can accomplish exactly what you want.

Personally I use theapiguys.com Any Text tool to move data around, works very well with Opportunities.
