Is it possible to hyperlink text in an email campaign using a merged field?

Trying to hyperlink text with a merged field that is a url.

You can store a url in a custom field which can be inserted into emails using merge fields but I don’t think it would be possible to store the html collectively because those fields are processed at the time of sending the email and that means the html has already been assembled.

I ended up using owner fields like Fax 1, Fax 2, ect…and inserted url instead of a phone number. Merging those fields as the url hyperlink in campaign builder worked.
