Is there a way to consolidate contacts for the same individual with different email addresses?

Hi all,

I’m hoping to consolidate three separate contacts for the same user who has three different contact records set up. I see that I can only consolidate contacts by email + additional criteria, but not without email, which makes sense. Is there any easy way to do this?

Kevin:

Not quite sure of the question … but here are some possible solutions based on what I’m guessing.

If they don’t have an email address, give them a dummy address. Then run the dedupe.

You can only merge 2 records at a time, so you’ll have to merge 2, run dedupe, then merge the last 2 so you end up with just one.

You can then delete the dummy email address.

If the issue is that you can’t find them to mark them as duplicates because they have different email addresses and they don’t show up as duplicates, then run a contact search based on name, so you can see all 3 records.

Then, click the checkbox in front of 2 of them and use the ‘actions’ dropdown above and run ‘merge duplicate records’

Merge 2, then run the search again by name and select the last 2 remaining records and do the same thing.

If neither of these is your issue, please provide additional clarification and I’ll see what I can do to help.

Sorry if I was unclear—the problem was that the contacts had different email addresses, so I ran a contact search and merged them that way. Thanks for your help!
