That method will work only in some cases (though it’s not bad to do). Bots have gotten wise to it’s use basically.
To prevent spam/scam/fake email submissions, the most successful approach I’ve seen is to use SpamKill. It makes use of the honey pot method along with about 9 other methods and randomly sets up three in forms to prevent bots from being able to ‘work around’ the prevention. It really is the best answer for the problem we’ve seen.
